Steven Jens Has No Life
This is just a collection of some of my thoughts as they come to me -- sometimes even sooner.

I've seen each of the videos mentioned in the previous post at least twice; I'm currently, for the first time, experiencing a new version of "Papa Don't Preach", harder than Madonna's, being performed mechanically by a chubby chick.

Oh, "Kelly Osbourne", presumably Ozzy's daughter. Suddenly all the pieces fit.

I've been watching MTV and VH1 on occasion lately, during the early-morning period when they play music videos.

There's a Kylie Minogne, who I'd heard of from an episode of "Vicar of Dibley", and apparently has now made an appearance in the US market. She's like Madonna. I don't understand why Madonna made it big, and I won't predict Kylie. I don't dislike Madonna, incidentally -- a lot of her songs are things I enjoy listening to, just like all the other music that sounds just like it, and which I don't remember two hours later.

There's an Avril, whose music is a little more interesting (though her video isn't). I have to assume there's been a marketing campaign based on her cuteness -- she looks like Fiona Apple's kid sister -- and a "bad girl" image of some kind, though I've missed this campaign. Again, that's not all she has to recommend her, it's just what she might have above and beyond the others who sound like her.

The song "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas is used in a car commercial. The song haunts me. The video is somewhat understated and interesting, and I've been glad to run into it several times.
