Also tomorrow my parents will arrive for a long weekend.

We have a French visitor here. I knew he was going to be at the monthly French conversation group yesterday, but I hadn't known until yesterday that he'd be staying here chez nous. I didn't realize until after the French conversation group how bad his English would be -- it's almost as bad as my French.

So I spent a bit of the evening speaking French (almost entirely -- maybe 5% English) with someone who has a Paris-French accent. As I pointed out on a different blog a few days ago, it's a lot easier to speak a foreign language with other non-natives, so this was harder than I'm used to. Good practice. We discussed 19th century French politics. Or I think we did -- it's possible he was trying to sell me an encyclopedia, and that I just misunderstood. I didn't sign anything...
